Your Pathetic Dreams

There has been a lot of ramblings in other people's blogs about Oprah. Some new authors are wishing that she would bring the Oprah's Book Club back in hopes that she would draw some attention to their novels. Poor things. I guess they feel pretty bad that they have spent so much time on a computer just plugging away hoping to be discovered. They are so dependent on one woman. If Oprah was another black woman just walking the streets, these same authors would not give her the time of day. Now they know that when "Oprah Speaks Everybody Listens", they now want to listen to her.

Not Criticizing Or Complementing Any Clubs

All of the juice has run out of me today. I really do not feel like discussing any novels. I cannot discuss any bookclubs either. Maybe when I feel better I will get back to it. For today, however, I have to say so long.

The Book Reviews

The book reviews are going on at The New York Times. Their list appear to be rather short. They are raving about some well knowns. Maybe that is the criteria. If you are well known, you are there with them. Being well knowns should not mean the books are there. The books are still in book clubs. There are wonderful books in the clubs. Let's go to them to find them.

New Books On The Net

While using google search engine to find some books to read, I noticed that there are a lot of new books out there on websites that do not get much attention. I had to view at least 40 pages on the web to find them. You cannot locate them on the first few pages on the web. Some of them are listed on new sites that have not received at lot of publicity. They are not as lucky as the "Harry Potter Craze". These new books may offer you the type of enjoyment that you have never experienced. I also noticed during my search that there are a lot of new book clubs. For example, google groups and yahoo groups have a lot of new clubs that need members. If you are looking for a book club to join, you may find what you are looking for at these clubs.

The Book Club Craze

The book club craze is sweeping all across America. Book clubs are becoming a way for friends and families to talk about what they are reading. Some of these clubs are set up just to talk about anything under the sun. The book club craze may just be an outlet for writer's too. What better place for a new writer to get discovered. If he is a member of a book club, why not have that club read his book. Join the book club craze. It is a great place for readers and authors to meet.

Choose What To Read Today

How do I choose what to read today a buyer may ask? Do I choose fiction or non-fiction. What category should I choose to read today? I see all of the pretty bookcovers. I see the author's profile on the back of the book. What do I choose? Should I choose the one with the pretty cover? Should I choose the one that tells me something about the author? How do I make my choice on what to read? Maybe I will go online and see what novel is being talked about. Does what is being said about the novel make me choose it to read? Do I choose a novel my family told me about? Do I choose a novel I heard talked about at work? How do I choose what to read today? I really do not know what motivates me to choose, so I guess I will just pick something up to read.

A DECLINE IN NOVEL READERSHIP

While visiting some online forums and writer's organizations, there seems to be a consensus that there has been a significant decline in people reading books lately. I can only speculate that this is due to the hectic lifestyles that more people are faced with these days. After all, who has time to sit down and read a good novel when they spend so much time in traffic trying to get to work. After a long day at work, one wants to just sit down and relax if they have a few minutes to do so. A lot of families have small children and those children have to be their first priority. As a result, they do not have time to pick up a good book to read. The state of the economy is another reason that may contribute to the decline in novel readership. When families are keeping watch over their finances to see if they are able to provide for their families leaves little time to read a novel. Busy schedules, family responsibilities, the state of the economy, etc. are all contributing factors to the decline in novel readership. But one must remember that we all need that break from today's life events and what better way to do so is to read a good novel and let our mind escape from life's realities.

THE NOTE ON THE SCREEN

I saw the note on the screen and I wandered what it meant. Did he mean that he had read my documents and decided to check them out for himself? Why didn't he just step forward like a brave young man and say what he meant. He decided to take the cowards way out. He is coodependent after all. Poor thing has to leave encrypted messages in order to get his point across. Well I did not get it. At lease that is what I want him to believe. I did not get it at all. Too bad he is stuck with that note on the screen. I know it won't come off.
